The Luxor Hotel & Casino In Las Vegas Is Undergoing A Transformation And Its Not About Ancient Egypt Any LongerWhen the Luxor opened on October 15, 1993 the striking pyramid structure was the tallest building in Las Vegas. The pyramid could be seen for miles and made the other hotels on the Strip look small in comparison. This was a time when the development of casinos in "Las Vegas" relied on themes to differentiate themselves from one another. The Steve Wynn hotel, Treasure Island, was based on a pirate theme and second incarnation of MGM Grand (the original MGM Grand was what is now known as Bally's) was all about the movies, complete with a yellow brick road directing visitors through the center of the casino floor. The Luxor, as the name suggests, relied on the ancient Egypt theme to tantalize it's guests. The replica of the Sphinx in front of the hotel, which also doubles as the porte-cochere, greets visitors upon arrival. At one time there was even a Nile River ride, similar to what you might find in Epcot Center at Disneyworld. The Luxor may not have been considered one of the seven wonders of the world, but at the time it was definitely considered the wonder of Las Vegas.Times and taste change very fast in Las Vegas and today the Luxor is going through a transformation that promises to bring a more contemporary flavor and erase any sign that the hotel and casino are 18 years old. This transformation began in 2006, with the refurbishment of the West Tower rooms, and will continue through 2008. All 4,047 rooms will be refurbished by the time the renovation is complete.Gone is the RA Nightclub. RA was one of the first mega-nightclubs in Las Vegas. The Luxor is now home to the LAX Nightclub, a branch of the Los Angeles hot spot. LAX is a modern state-of-the-art nightclub covering two-stories and 26,000 square feet. Since the club was opened in August 2007 it has developed a reputation for being a celebrity hangout. There is also Noir Bar, a private reservation required bar located within the nightclub. An adjoining bistro will be opening soon so you can eat, drink and play in a singular destination.Although the Nile River ride is no longer, the Luxor still has many entertainment offerings. The comedian Carrot Top offers his unique and somewhat twisted form of entertainment 6-nights a week. The adults-only revue, Fantasy, offers singing, dancing and of course, topless girls. Something the whole family can enjoy is the ventriloquist Ronn Lucas and his puppets who perform afternoon shows 6-days a week. In 2008 the Luxor will be home to yet another Cirque du Soleil production on the Las Vegas Strip. This production will be a collaboration with magician Criss Angel and will be housed in the theater formerly occupied by the Blue Man Group. The Luxor's parent company, MGM MIRAGE is spending $300 million dollars in an effort to bring the hotel in line with the newer resorts and casinos on the Strip, which was very much needed. As the transformation continues there will surely be new restaurants added, new bars and nightclubs and new entertainment options. And as the ancient Egypt theme slowly disappears during this renovation, it is beginning to look like the only reference to the old Luxor that will remain is it's signature 30-story pyramid tower.
If it werent for Snoopy, and the Mos Burger and Ganko Sushi restaurants along the road from the JR Universal City Station, visitors to Universal Studios Japan might think they had stepped out train of the onto the back lot of Universal Studios in Florida or Hollywood. "Universal Studios Japan" AttractionsThe similarities between the parks are striking, with the same shark surging out of the water at Amity Pond, the same bicycle trip across the moon in the ET Adventure, the same Jurassic Park T-Rex chasing pathetic little rafts over a twenty-five foot waterfall, and of course, the same Amazing Adventures of Spiderman complete with a moving Statue of Liberty head. The Water World stunt show is there to give visitors a taste of life on Earth post-global warming, and Shrek 4-D is there to let visitors enjoy having the sensation of Donkey expectorating in their faces and unseen creatures crawling all around them. Mist sprayers in the seats and moveable rubber tubing are the real culprits. The theme park experience unique to Universal Studios Japan is its Snoopy Studio. The Japanese people are hooked on cute, and the Peanuts gang takes cute to the nth degree. Snoopy even has his own roller coaster adventure, Snoopys Great Race.Visitors to Universal Studios Japan, especially during school vacations, are advised to arrive early and pay extra for an Express Pass Booklet, which will entitle them to go to the head of the line for either four or seven of the most popular rides or attractions--ET the Adventure; Terminator2 3-D; Jurassic Park the Ride; Hollywood Dream the Ride; Back to the Future the Ride; Jaws; and the Amazing Adventures of Spiderman. On peak days the waits for some of these rides can approach three hours, and the Express Passes sell out quickly.Accommodations Close to Universal Studios JapanThe Sheraton Hotel Miyako Osaka is a deluxe hotel located in the heart of Osaka offering its guests the peacefulness of traditional Japanese hospitality, yet is only five kilometers from all the fun and excitement of Universal Studios Japan.
Your trip to Las Vegas will be no more or no less than you make it. The problem with gambling destinations such as this is that if you spend your entire allotment of funds in the first few hours you are in for a very long and quite boring and possibly hungry vacation. It requires a great deal of self control in order to really win at the games that are most often played in this city. From the bright and glittery nightlife full of dancing girls, flowing booze, and the eternal ringing of the slot machine, Las Vegas is a city that was quite literally built on broken dreams. If you do not realize this going in, the chances are rather great that you might learn the lesson the hard way. This is in no way whatsoever meant to discourage your from visiting or from taking the gamble in the casinos. That is after all the main attraction for a visit to this city. This is just a friendly reminder that in all things moderation is not really all that terrible a thing. If you're going to risk at all, at least wait till you're getting ready to head out of town rather than doing it your first night in.If you get the chance during your visit find out all you can about the history of this city. I think it will make the trip that much more meaningful to you and might romanticize your time in the city a little bit too. Plus, for your guys, the girls love a good story and if you can woo them with grand stories of Vegas lore, then perhaps you will find a little luck of your own during your visit.Through the years Las Vegas has had both vocal critics and outright devotees, they've legalized prostitution, kept gaming alive and well where others had failed to do so and stood against and corrupted more local and national government officials than anyone might ever care to admit. If one had all the facts about this city and it's oh so interesting history I would certainly love to read this tell all book. Even more than the past, the presence of Las Vegas is raising many eyebrows across America in disdain while others look on with rapt attention. From the gambling and the dancing girls, the bright lights, the games, the gold, the glam, and the glitz there are people that love it with the equal intensity of those that hate it. I guess some things about Vegas will never change.I would choose to visit Las Vegas over many American cities because its history isn't painted as lily white. This is one city that lives in sins and relishes that fact about itself. While some may call it 'Sin City' I prefer to think of it as a city that is unburdened by the sins of its past. When you think about it, those that are simply passing through commit most of the sins of Vegas.
The perfect honeymoon getaway package could well be the romantic Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet Istanbul. It has everything a romantic honeymoon getaway hotel needs apart from situation, situation, situation, and it has that in abundance. You see if you choose Istanbul for your honeymoon getaway you need also to position yourself in the right place, and Sultanahmet is certainly all of that. Here you are right in the heart of historic old Istanbul so the unmissable spots like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Hippodrome plus the Grand Bazaar are only a short distance away. Topkapi Palace is also close by and the Istiklal Cadesi with its multitude of small bars and tavernas beckons.A great honeymoon getaway hotel does need more than exquisite neighbours, and the Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet has this and more as well.It was created from a century old prison, and has just 65 guest rooms and suites which surround an open courtyard. That in itself isnt enough, but it is in the sheer quality of everything else from your suite to the attention to detail that sets the Four Seasons apart.Get yourself picked up at the airport by the BMW 7 Series the hotel will send for you. You do want to impress on your honeymoon getaway, and there is nothing quite like being greeted by a man in uniform at an airport arrivals hall, complete with limo!! You can feel the other passengers are desperate to know who you are, and if it is the start of your honeymoon getaway, then it doesnt half impress your new bride. There is obviously a cost, and it is four or five times more than a taxi, but worth every penny. Its also good to have features of Istanbul pointed out on the way to your honeymoon hotel.Check in is very quick at the Four Seasons, because the paperwork will have mostly been covered in the car, but what you will find is the strong likelihood of an upgrade. A one Bedroom Suite is more than roomy. You will find spectacular bathrooms, DVD Players with a huge list of DVDs. A CD Player and a huge list of CDs.Room including breakfast would be the best arrangement, because this isnt just continental breakfast, here at the Four Seasons you can order what you want.As you would expect from a Four Seasons Hotel, it is spotless, the service is quick unobtrusive, and it is fair to say that the staff seem to be very happy with their lot, and this in turn helps create a good atmosphere. The restaurant food again is good, again very much what you have the right to expect from a Four Seasons, but delightful and atmospheric as the hotel is, you are in Sultanahmet in the middle of Istanbul and this position is probably the best thing of all. Being right in the heart of the old city there is a lot of hustle and bustle outside but thanks to good insulation the hotel is very quiet. Even the early morning call to prayer from the mosques seems to be toned down quite considerably. The Four Seasons Sultanahmet just fits in so well with the local scene, and you dont need to travel more than a few minutes to see the best of what old Istanbul has to offer. As a hotel it is easy to see why the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul is rated the tops in Europe, and in the top five in the world. It makes for a perfect honeymoon getaway package. For more information on Turkey go to http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com/categories/European-Hotels/Turkey/
